वृष्णीनां वासुदेवोऽस्मि पाण्डवानां धनञ्जयः | मुनीनामप्यहं व्यासः कवीनामुशना कविः
vṛṣṇīnāṃ vāsudevo.asmi pāṇḍavānāṃ dhanañjayaḥ . munīnāmapyahaṃ vyāsaḥ kavīnāmuśanā kaviḥ
വൃഷ്ണികളിൽ ഞാൻ വാസുദേവനാണ്; പാണ്ഡവരിൽ ഞാൻ ധനഞ്ജയനാണ് (അർജ്ജുനൻ). മുനിമാരിൽ ഞാൻ വ്യാസനാണ്; കവികളിൽ ഞാൻ ഉശനസ്സ് എന്ന കവിയാണ്.
Of the vrsnis [The clan to which Sri krsna belonged, known otherwise as the Yadavas.] I am Vasudeva; of the Pandavas, Dhananjaya (Arjuna). And of the wise, I am Vyasa; of the omniscient, the omniscient Usanas.
വൃഷ്ണികൾ യാദവന്മാരാണ് അഥവാ യദുവിന്റെ പിൻഗാമികളാണ്. അവരിൽ ഞാൻ പ്രധാനിയാണ്. ഉശനസ്സ് അസുരന്മാരുടെ ഗുരുവായ ശുക്രാചാര്യനാണ്.
