मृत्युः सर्वहरश्चाहमुद्भवश्च भविष्यताम् | कीर्तिः श्रीर्वाक्च नारीणां स्मृतिर्मेधा धृतिः क्षमा
mṛtyuḥ sarvaharaścāhamudbhavaśca bhaviṣyatām . kīrtiḥ śrīrvākca nārīṇāṃ smṛtirmedhā dhṛtiḥ kṣamā
ഞാൻ സർവ്വത്തെയും നശിപ്പിക്കുന്ന മൃത്യുവാണ്; ഐശ്വര്യമുണ്ടാകേണ്ടവരുടെ ഐശ്വര്യവും ഞാനാണ്. സ്ത്രീഗുണങ്ങളിൽ ഞാൻ കീർത്തി, ശ്രീ, വാക്ക്, സ്മൃതി, മേധാ, ധൃതി, ക്ഷമ എന്നിവയാണ്.
And I am Death, the destroyer of all; and the prosperity of those destined to be prosperous. Of the feminine [Narinam may mean 'of the feminine alities'. According to Sridhara Swami and S., the words fame etc. signify the goddesses of the respective alities. According to M.S. these seven goddesses are the wives of the god Dharma.-Tr.] (I am) fame, beauty, speech, memory, intelligence, fortitude and forbearance.
എല്ലാം നശിപ്പിക്കുന്ന സർവ്വാന്തകനായ മൃത്യുവും ഞാനാണ്. മൃത്യു രണ്ടുവിധമാണ് - സമ്പത്ത് അപഹരിക്കുന്നവനും ജീവൻ അപഹരിക്കുന്നവനും. അവരിൽ ജീവൻ അപഹരിക്കുന്നവനാണ് സർവ്വഹരൻ, അതുകൊണ്ട് ഞാൻ അവനാണ്. അല്ലെങ്കിൽ മറ്റൊരു വ്യാഖ്യാനം: പ്രപഞ്ചവിനാശ സമയത്ത് എല്ലാം നശിപ്പിക്കുന്ന പരമമായ ഭഗവാൻ ഞാനാണ്. ഭാവിയിൽ ജനിക്കാനിരിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ ജീവികളുടെയും ഉത്ഭവം ഞാനാണ്. ഐശ്വര്യം നേടാൻ യോഗ്യരായവരുടെ ഐശ്വര്യവും അത് നേടാനുള്ള മാർഗ്ഗവും ഞാനാണ്. സൗന്ദര്യമാണ് ശ്രീ. തേജസ്സാണ് ശ്രീ. സ്ത്രീഗുണങ്ങളിൽ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച കീർത്തി ഞാനാണ്. അല്പം കീർത്തി നേടിയ ആളുകൾ തങ്ങൾ ജീവിതത്തിൽ വലിയ വിജയം നേടിയെന്നും വലിയ ആളുകളായി മാറിയെന്നും കരുതുന്നു. നീതിയുടെ സിംഹാസനത്തെ അലങ്കരിക്കുന്ന വാക്ക് ഞാനാണ്. ഭൂതകാലത്തിലെ വസ്തുക്കളെയും സുഖങ്ങളെയും ഓർമ്മിപ്പിക്കുന്ന സ്മൃതി ഞാനാണ്. ശാസ്ത്രോപദേശങ്ങൾ ഗ്രഹിക്കാൻ ഒരാളെ പ്രാപ്തനാക്കുന്ന മനസ്സിന്റെ ശക്തിയാണ് മേധാ. വിവിധതരം കഷ്ടപ്പാടുകൾക്കിടയിലും ശരീരത്തെയും ഇന്ദ്രിയങ്ങളെയും സ്ഥിരമായി നിർത്താനുള്ള ശക്തിയാണ് ധൃതി അഥവാ ദൃഢത. കർമ്മങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യുമ്പോഴും നിർമ്മമനായിരിക്കാനുള്ള ശക്തിയാണ് ധൃതി. ഇതിന് ധൈര്യം എന്നും അർത്ഥമുണ്ട്. ക്ഷമ എന്നാൽ സഹനശക്തി എന്നും അർത്ഥമാക്കുന്നു. കീർത്തി, ശ്രീ, സ്മൃതി, മേധാ, ധൃതി, ക്ഷമ എന്നിവ ദക്ഷന്റെ പുത്രിമാരാണ്. അവരെ ധർമ്മന് വിവാഹം ചെയ്തുകൊടുത്തതിനാൽ അവരെല്ലാം ധർമ്മപത്നിമാർ എന്ന് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു.
I am also the allsnatching death that destroys everything. Death is of two kinds? viz.? he who seizes wealth and he who seizes life. Of them he who seizes life is the allseizer and,hence he is called Sarvaharah. I am he.Or? there is another interpretation. I am the Supreme Lord Who is the allseizer? because I destroy everything at the time of the cosmic dissolution.I am the origin of all the beings to be born in the future. I am the prosperity and the means of achieving it of those who are fit to attain it.Beauty is Sri. Lustre is Sri. I am fame? the best of the feminine alities. People who have attained slight fame think that they have achieved great success in life and that they have become very big or great men. I am speech which adorns the throne of justice. I am memory which recalls objects and pleasures of the past.The power of the mind which enables one to hold the teachings of the scriptures is Medha. Firmness or Dhriti is the power to keep the body and the senses steady even amidst various kinds of sufferings. The power to keep oneself unattached even while doing actions is Dhriti. It also means courage. Kshama also means endurance.Fame? prosperity? memory? intelligence and firmness are the daughters of Daksha. They had been given in marriage to Dhrama and so they are all called Dharmapatnis.
