तत्त्ववित्तु महाबाहो गुणकर्मविभागयोः | गुणा गुणेषु वर्तन्त इति मत्वा न सज्जते
tattvavittu mahābāho guṇakarmavibhāgayoḥ . guṇā guṇeṣu vartanta iti matvā na sajjate
Mais, ô puissant aux bras, celui qui connaît la vérité sur les variétés des guṇas (qualités) et des actions ne s'y attache pas, pensant ainsi : 'Les organes agissent sur les objets des organes.'
But, O mighty-armed one, the one who is a knower of the facts about the varieties of the gunas (alities) and actions does not become attached, thinking thus: 'The organs rest (act) on the objects of the organs.'
Celui qui connaît la vérité que le Soi est entièrement distinct des trois guṇas et des actions ne s'attache pas aux actions. Celui qui connaît la vérité sur la classification des guṇas et leurs fonctions respectives comprend que les qualités, en tant qu'organes des sens, se meuvent parmi les qualités, en tant qu'objets des sens. Par conséquent, il n'est pas attaché aux actions. Il sait : 'Je suis Akartā – Je ne suis pas l'acteur.' (Cf. XIV.23).
He who knows the truth that the Self is entirely distinct from the three Gunas and actions does not become attached to the actions. He who knows the truth about the classification of the Gunas and their respective functions understands that the alities as senseorgans move amidst the alities as senseobjects. Therefore he is not attached to the actions. He knows? I am Akarta -- I am not the doer. (Cf.XIV.23).
