यस्त्वात्मरतिरेव स्यादात्मतृप्तश्च मानवः | आत्मन्येव च सन्तुष्टस्तस्य कार्यं न विद्यते
yastvātmaratireva syādātmatṛptaśca mānavaḥ . ātmanyeva ca santuṣṭastasya kāryaṃ na vidyate
Mais l'homme qui se réjouit seulement dans l'Ātman (le Soi), qui est satisfait de l'Ātman, et qui est content seulement dans l'Ātman – pour lui, il n'y a pas de devoir à accomplir.
But that man who rejoices only in theSelf and is satisfied with the Self, and is contented only in the Self-for him there is no duty to perform.
Le sage ne dépend pas d'objets extérieurs pour son bonheur. Il est entièrement satisfait de l'Ātman, trouvant sa joie, sa béatitude et son contentement en son propre Soi. Pour un tel sage, qui a la connaissance de l'Ātman, il n'y a rien à faire, car il a déjà accompli toutes les actions et satisfait tous ses désirs, atteignant une satisfaction complète.
The sage does not depend on external objects for his happiness. He is ite satisfied with the Self. He finds his joy? bliss and contentment within his own Self. For such a sage who has knowledge of the Self? there is nothing to do. He has already done all actions. He has satisfied all his desires. He has complete satisfaction. (Cf.II.55).
