कट्वम्ललवणात्युष्णतीक्ष्णरूक्षविदाहिनः | आहारा राजसस्येष्टा दुःखशोकामयप्रदाः
kaṭvamlalavaṇātyuṣṇatīkṣṇarūkṣavidāhinaḥ . āhārā rājasasyeṣṭā duḥkhaśokāmayapradāḥ
苦、酸、咸、过热、辛辣、干涩、灼烧,并带来痛苦、悲伤和疾病的食物,为变性(拉贾斯)之人所喜爱。
Foods that are bitter, sour, salty, very hot, pungent, dry and burning, and which production pain, sorrow and disease, are dear to one having rajas.
“过量”这一限定词应适用于上述七种品质中的每一种,例如“过咸”等等。变性(拉贾斯)的食物会在心中产生躁动、邪恶念头、兴奋、对事物的不断渴望、痛苦、烦恼和疾病。变性之人总是计划烹制各种菜肴以满足味蕾。他们过量食用盐、辣椒、芥末、丁香、调味品、辛辣泡菜等。即使泪流满面,鼻涕直流,他们也不会放弃辛辣刺激的食物。他们的味蕾永不满足,直到胃被辛辣之物完全填满,舌头被辣椒灼烧。秋葵、普里饼、卡乔里饼、辛辣调味品、肉、鱼、蛋、甜点、土豆、炸面包、凝乳、茄子、胡萝卜、黑豆、洋葱、大蒜、柠檬、扁豆、茶、咖啡、槟榔、烟草等都是变性食物。

Tears flow from his eyes and water dribbles from his nose and yet he will not leave the hot and pungent articles. The palate remains unsatisfied until the stomach is completely filled with pungent things? till the tongue is burnt with chillies. Ladysfinger? Puri? Kachori? pungent condiments? meat? fish? eggs? sweets? potato? fried bread? curd? brinjal? carrots? blackgram? onions? garlic? lemon? Masur? tea? coffee? betels? tobacco are Rajasic artciles of food.
