मनुष्याणां सहस्रेषु कश्चिद्यतति सिद्धये | यततामपि सिद्धानां कश्चिन्मां वेत्ति तत्त्वतः
manuṣyāṇāṃ sahasreṣu kaścidyatati siddhaye . yatatāmapi siddhānāṃ kaścinmāṃ vetti tattvataḥ
ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് മനുഷ്യരിൽ ഒരാൾ മാത്രമാണ് സിദ്ധിക്കായി യത്നിക്കുന്നത്. യത്നിക്കുന്ന സിദ്ധന്മാരിൽ പോലും ഒരാൾ മാത്രമാണ് എന്നെ യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ അറിയുന്നത്.
Among thousands of men a rare one endeavours for perfection. Even of the perfected ones who are diligent, one perchance knows Me in truth.
ആത്മജ്ഞാനം നേടുക അഥവാ ബ്രഹ്മത്തെ അതിന്റെ സാരത്തിൽ അറിയുക എന്നത് എത്രമാത്രം പ്രയാസകരമാണെന്ന് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക. 'സിദ്ധാനാം' എന്ന വാക്കിന് അക്ഷരാർത്ഥത്തിൽ പൂർണ്ണത നേടിയവർ (സിദ്ധന്മാർ) എന്നാണർത്ഥം, എന്നാൽ ഇവിടെ പൂർണ്ണത നേടാൻ പരിശ്രമിക്കുന്നവരെയാണ് ഇത് സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. വജ്രങ്ങളോ മാണിക്യങ്ങളോ മുത്തുകളോ വാങ്ങുന്നവർ ചുരുക്കമാണ്. ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദം പഠിക്കുന്നവരും ചുരുക്കമാണ്. അതുപോലെ, ആത്മസാക്ഷാത്കാരത്തിനായി പരിശ്രമിക്കുന്നവരും സത്യത്തെ അതിന്റെ സാരത്തിൽ യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ അറിയുന്നവരും ചുരുക്കം ചിലർ മാത്രമാണ്. ജീവൻമുക്തർ (മോചിതരായവർ) വിരളമാണ്. യഥാർത്ഥ സാധകരും വിരളമാണ്. ആത്മജ്ഞാനം മനുഷ്യന് അളവറ്റ ഫലങ്ങൾ നൽകുന്നു, അതായത് അമരത്വം, നിത്യമായ ആനന്ദം, ശാശ്വതമായ സന്തോഷം, നിലനിൽക്കുന്ന സമാധാനം. ഈ ആത്മജ്ഞാനം നേടാൻ വളരെ പ്രയാസമാണ്. എന്നാൽ ദൃഢനിശ്ചയവും ഉറച്ച തീരുമാനവുമുള്ള, മോക്ഷത്തിനുള്ള നാല് മാർഗ്ഗങ്ങളാൽ സജ്ജനായ ഒരു നല്ലതും ആത്മാർത്ഥതയുമുള്ള ആത്മീയ സാധകന് ആത്മജ്ഞാനം എളുപ്പത്തിൽ നേടാൻ കഴിയും.
Mark how difficult it is to attain to the knowledge of the Self or to how Brahman in essence. Siddhanam literally means those who have attained to perfection (the perfected ones) but here it means only those who strive to attain perfection.Those who purchase diamonds? rubies or pearls are few. Those who study the postgraduate course are few. Even so those who attempt for Selfrealisation and who actually know the Truth in essence are few only. The liberated ones (Jivanmuktas) are rare. Real Sadhakas are also rare. The,knowledge of the Self bestows incalculable fruits on man? viz.? immortality? eternal bliss? perennial joy and everlasting peace. It is very difficult to attain to this knowledge of the Self. But a good and earnest spiritual aspirant (Sadhaka) who is endowed with a strong determination and iron resolve? and who is eipped with the four means to salvation can easily obtain the knowledge of the Self.
