यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत | अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम् ||७||

ഹേ ഭാരത, എപ്പോഴൊക്കെ ധർമ്മത്തിന് ക്ഷയം സംഭവിക്കുകയും അധർമ്മം വർദ്ധിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നുവോ, അപ്പോഴൊക്കെ ഞാൻ എന്നെത്തന്നെ സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്നു (അവതരിക്കുന്നു).
