न तदस्ति पृथिव्यां वा दिवि देवेषु वा पुनः | सत्त्वं प्रकृतिजैर्मुक्तं यदेभिः स्यात्त्रिभिर्गुणैः
na tadasti pṛthivyāṃ vā divi deveṣu vā punaḥ . sattvaṃ prakṛtijairmuktaṃ yadebhiḥ syāttribhirguṇaiḥ
Il n'existe aucune entité sur Terre, ni parmi les dieux au ciel, qui puisse être libre de ces trois gunas nés de la Nature.
There is no such entity in the world or, again, among the gods in heaven, which can be free from these three gunas born of Nature.
Les gunas forment la chaîne et la trame de toute chose, comme les fils dans un tissu. Ici, dans le monde des mortels, ou là-haut dans le monde céleste, il n'y a aucune créature qui ne soit liée par les trois qualités de la Nature. Peut-il y avoir un tissu sans fils ? Peut-il y avoir un homme sans sang ni os ? Peut-il y avoir une montagne sans pierres ? De même, il n'y a pas une seule créature dans tout l'univers dont la composition ne contienne pas les trois qualités de la matière. Toute la création est façonnée par ces trois qualités. Elles ont donné naissance à la Trinité (Brahma, Vishnu et Shiva). Dans le monde des mortels, la triplicité de l'agent, de l'action et du fruit leur doit son origine. Elles sont la cause des différentes fonctions des quatre varnas (castes). Ce samsara a été comparé à l'arbre pipal au chapitre XV.1. Ce samsara est composé des trois qualités et est maintenu par la force de l'ignorance. L'action, les instruments de l'action et les fruits ont mis en mouvement la roue du samsara, et cette roue tourne depuis des temps immémoriaux. Seul un sage libéré qui a atteint la connaissance du Soi met un frein à cette roue, dépasse la cause et l'effet, et brise les liens du karma. Coupez cet arbre mystérieux du samsara avec la forte épée du non-attachement, transcendez les trois gunas et reposez dans votre propre nature divine essentielle en tant qu'Existence-Conscience-Béatitude Absolue.
The Gunas form the warp and woof of everything as threads do in the case of cloth.Here in the world of mortals or there in the heavenworld? there is no creature that is not bound by the three alities of Nature. Can there be a cloth without threads Can there be a man without blood and bones Can there be a mountain without stones Even so there is not a single creature in the whole universe into whose composition the three alities of matter do not enter. The whole of creation is wrought of these three alities. They have given rise to the Trinity (Brahma? Vishnu and Siva). In the world of mortals the triplicity of agent? action and fruit owe their origin to them. They are the cause of the different functions of the four castes. This Samsara has been compared to the peepul tree in chapter XV.1. This Samsara is made up of the three alities and is kept up by the force of ignorance.Action? instruments of action and fruits have set the wheel of Samsara in motion and this wheel is revolving from beginningless time. It is only a liberated sage who has attained knowledge of the Self who puts a check to this wheel? goes beyond the cause and the effect? and breaks the bonds of Karma.Cut this mysterious tree of Samsara with the strong sword of nonattachment? transcend the three Gunas and rest in your own essential divine nature as ExistenceKnowledgeBliss Absolute.
