कामैस्तैस्तैर्हृतज्ञानाः प्रपद्यन्तेऽन्यदेवताः | तं तं नियममास्थाय प्रकृत्या नियताः स्वया
kāmaistaistairhṛtajñānāḥ prapadyante.anyadevatāḥ . taṃ taṃ niyamamāsthāya prakṛtyā niyatāḥ svayā
人们的智慧被各种欲望所夺，并被其自身本性（prakriti）所驱使，遵循相应的仪式，皈依其他神祇。
People, deprived of their wisdom by desires for various objects and guided by their own nature, resort to other deities following the relevant methods.
那些渴望财富、子女、小神通（Siddhis）等的人，他们的辨别力被剥夺。他们被自身本性（Samskaras，前世习气）所驱使，转而崇拜因陀罗（Indra）、密特拉（Mitra）、伐楼那（Varuna）等次要神祇。他们会举行某些仪式来取悦这些较低层次的神灵。
Those who desire wealth? children? the (small) Siddhis? etc.? are deprived of discrimination. They devote themselves to other minor gods such as Indra? Mitra? Varuna? etc.? impelled or driven by their own nature or Samskaras acired in their previous births. They perform some kinds of rites to propitiate these lower deities. (Cf.IX.23)
