सञ्जय उवाच | तं तथा कृपयाविष्टमश्रुपूर्णाकुलेक्षणम् | विषीदन्तमिदं वाक्यमुवाच मधुसूदनः
sañjaya uvāca . taṃ tathā kṛpayāviṣṭamaśrupūrṇākulekṣaṇam . viṣīdantamidaṃ vākyamuvāca madhusūdanaḥ
桑贾亚说：马杜苏丹那（Madhusudana）对那位被悲悯（kṛpā）充满、双眼含泪且充满困惑、正陷于忧伤的阿周那，说了这些话。
Sanjaya said To him who had been thus filled with pity, whose eyes were filled with tears and showed distress, and who was sorrowing, Madhusudana uttered these words:
这一节标志着《薄伽梵歌》第二章的开始，也是克里希那（Madhusudana）开始对阿周那进行教诲的转折点。阿周那的绝望和悲伤达到了顶点，为神圣教导的降临创造了条件。
. Sanjaya said To him (Arjuna) who was thus possessed by compassion, whose eyes were confused and filled with tears and who was sinking in despondency, Madhusudana told this [following] sentence.
