चातुर्वर्ण्यं मया सृष्टं गुणकर्मविभागशः | तस्य कर्तारमपि मां विद्ध्यकर्तारमव्ययम्
cāturvarṇyaṃ mayā sṛṣṭaṃ guṇakarmavibhāgaśaḥ . tasya kartāramapi māṃ viddhyakartāramavyayam
چار ورن (ذاتیں) میری طرف سے گُنوں اور کرموں (فرائض) کی تقسیم کے ذریعے پیدا کیے گئے ہیں۔ اگرچہ میں اس (تقسیم کے عمل) کا کرنے والا ہوں، پھر بھی مجھے غیر عامل اور غیر متغیر جانو۔
The four castes have been created by Me through a classification of the gunas and duties. Even though I am the agent of that (act of classification), still know Me to be a non-agent and changeless.
چار ورن (برہمن، کشتری، ویش اور شودر) گُنوں اور کرموں (اعمال) کے فرق کے مطابق تقسیم کیے گئے ہیں۔ ایک برہمن میں ستو گُن غالب ہوتا ہے۔ وہ ضبط نفس، پاکیزگی، سکون، راست بازی، عقیدت وغیرہ کا مالک ہوتا ہے۔ ایک کشتری میں رجس گُن غالب ہوتا ہے۔ وہ بہادری، شان و شوکت، پختگی، مہارت، سخاوت اور حکمران کی فطرت کا مالک ہوتا ہے۔ ایک ویش میں رجس گُن غالب ہوتا ہے اور تمس رجس کے ماتحت ہوتا ہے۔ وہ ہل چلانے، مویشیوں کی حفاظت اور تجارت کا فرض انجام دیتا ہے۔ ایک شودر میں تمس گُن غالب ہوتا ہے اور رجس تمس کے ماتحت ہوتا ہے۔ وہ دیگر تین ورنوں کی خدمت کرتا ہے۔ انسانی مزاج اور رجحانات گُنوں کے مطابق مختلف ہوتے ہیں۔ اگرچہ بھگوان ورن نظام کے خالق ہیں، پھر بھی وہ خالق نہیں ہیں کیونکہ وہ غیر عامل ہیں۔ وہ سنسار کے تابع نہیں ہیں۔ حقیقت میں مایا سب کچھ کرتی ہے۔ مایا ہی حقیقی خالق ہے۔ معاشرہ ایک خوشحال حالت میں رہ سکتا ہے اگر چاروں ورن اپنے فرائض صحیح طریقے سے انجام دیں۔ ورنہ افراتفری، ٹوٹ پھوٹ اور لڑائی جھگڑا ہوگا۔
The four castes (Brahmana? Kshatriya? Vaishya and Sudra) are classified according to the differentiation of Guna and Karma. In a Brahmana? Sattva predominates. He possesses selfrestraint? purity? serenity? straightforwardness? devotion? etc. In a Kshatriya? Rajs predominates. He possesses prowess? splendour? firmness? dexterity? generosity and the nature of a ruler. In a Vaishya? Rajas predominates and Tamas is subordinate to Rajas. He does the duty of ploughing? protection of cattle and trade. In a Sudra Tamas predominates and Rajas is subordinate to Tamas. He does service to the other three castes. Human temperaments and tendencies vary according to the Gunas.Though the Lord is the author of the caste system? yet He is not the author as He is the nondoer. He is not subject to Samsara. Really Maya does everything. Maya is the real author. Society can exist in a flourishing state if the four castes do their duties properly. Otherwise there will be chaos? rupture and fighting.
