अहिंसा समता तुष्टिस्तपो दानं यशोऽयशः | भवन्ति भावा भूतानां मत्त एव पृथग्विधाः
ahiṃsā samatā tuṣṭistapo dānaṃ yaśo.ayaśaḥ . bhavanti bhāvā bhūtānāṃ matta eva pṛthagvidhāḥ
La non-violence (ahimsa), l'équanimité (samata), la satisfaction (tushti), l'austérité (tapas), la charité (danam), la renommée (yashas), l'infamie (ayashas) – ces diverses dispositions des êtres proviennent de Moi seul.
Non-injury, eanimity, satisfaction, austerity, charity, fame, infamy-(these) different dispositions of beings spring from Me alone.
Ahimsa est la non-nuisance envers les êtres vivants en pensée, en parole et en acte. Samata est cet état où il n'y a ni raga (attachement) ni dvesha (aversion), quand on reçoit des objets agréables ou désagréables. Il n'y a ni exaltation quand on obtient des objets agréables et favorables, ni dépression quand on obtient des objets désagréables et défavorables. Tushti est la satisfaction ou le contentement. L'homme content est satisfait de tout objet qu'il obtient par le prarabdha (karma passé mûrissant). Il est satisfait de ses acquisitions actuelles. Il est libre de l'avidité et a donc la paix de l'esprit. Le contentement rend un homme très riche. Il anéantit l'avidité. L'avidité fait même d'un homme riche un mendiant parmi les mendiants. Un homme avide est toujours agité. Tapas est la maîtrise des sens, avec mortification corporelle par la pratique du jeûne et la réduction progressive de la nourriture. La force du corps et des sens est réduite par le jeûne. Danam est la bienfaisance. C'est le partage de ses propres biens avec autrui selon ses moyens, ou la distribution de riz, d'or, de tissu, etc., à une personne digne, en un lieu et un temps appropriés, surtout à celui qui ne peut rien donner en retour. Yashas est la renommée due au dharma (actions vertueuses). Ayashas est la mauvaise réputation ou la disgrâce due à l'adharma (actions pécheresses). Toutes ces différentes sortes de qualités des êtres vivants proviennent de Moi seul, le grand Seigneur des mondes, selon leurs karmas respectifs.
Ahimsa is noninjury to living beings in thought? word and deed. Samata is that state wherein there is neither Raga (like) nor Dvesha (dislike)? when one gets pleasant or unpleasant objects. There is neither exhilaration when one gets pleasant or favourable objects nor depressions when one gets unpleasant or unfavourable objects. Tushtih is satisfaction or contentment. The man of contentment is satisfied with whatever object he gets through Prarabdha. He is satisfied with his present acisitions. He is free from greed and so he has peace of mind. Contentment makes a man very rich. It annihilates greed. Greed makes even a rich man a beggar of beggars. A greedy man is ever restless. Tapas is restraint of the senses? with bodily mortification through the practice of fasting and slow reduction of food. The strength of the body and the senses is reduced through fasting.Danam is beneficence. It is sharing of ones own things with others according to ones own means? or distribution of rice? gold? cloth? etc.? to a worthy person? in a fit place and time? especially to one who can do nothign in return.Yasas is fame due to Dharma or virtuous actions.Ayasah is illfame or disgrace due to Adharma or sinful actions.All these different kinds of alities of living beings arise from Me alone? the great Lord of the worlds? according to their respective Karmas.
