न जायते म्रियते वा कदाचि- न्नायं भूत्वा भविता वा न भूयः | अजो नित्यः शाश्वतोऽयं पुराणो न हन्यते हन्यमाने शरीरे ||२०||

ಆತ್ಮವು ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಹುಟ್ಟುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಸಾಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ; ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ನಂತರ ಅದು ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವವನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆತ್ಮವು ಹುಟ್ಟಿಲ್ಲದ, ನಿತ್ಯವಾದ, ಶಾಶ್ವತವಾದ ಮತ್ತು ಪುರಾತನವಾದದ್ದು. ದೇಹವು ಕೊಲ್ಲಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಾಗ ಅದು ಕೊಲ್ಲಲ್ಪಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
The soul is never born nor does it ever die; nor having once existed, does it cease to be. The soul is unborn, eternal, ever-existing, and primeval. It is not slain when the body is slain.

This is one of the most powerful declarations in the Gita. Krishna stacks six negations to describe the soul: not born, not dying, not ceasing, unborn (ajaḥ), eternal (nityaḥ), primeval (purāṇaḥ). The final line is devastating in its simplicity — even when the body is destroyed, the soul remains untouched.
