देहिनोऽस्मिन्यथा देहे कौमारं यौवनं जरा | तथा देहान्तरप्राप्तिर्धीरस्तत्र न मुह्यति ||१३||

ದೇಹಧಾರಿಯಾದ ಆತ್ಮವು ಈ ದೇಹದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಲ್ಯ, ಯೌವನ ಮತ್ತು ಮುಪ್ಪನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆಯೋ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಮರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಆತ್ಮವು ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ದೇಹವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಧೀರರು (ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು) ಇದರಿಂದ ಮೋಹಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
Just as the embodied soul continuously passes from childhood to youth to old age, similarly at death the soul passes into another body. The wise are not deluded by this.
ಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದಾದ ಸರಳ ಹೋಲಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಬಳಸುತ್ತಾನೆ: ನೀನು ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಹಲವು ಬಾರಿ 'ಮರಣ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದೀಯೆ' - ನೀನು ಮಗುವಾಗಿದ್ದವನು ಈಗ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಹದಿಹರೆಯದವನು ಈಗ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಹಂತವೂ ನೀನೇ ಎಂದು ಅನಿಸಿದರೂ, ದೇಹವು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಬದಲಾಯಿತು. ಮರಣವು ಅಂತಹ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಪರಿವರ್ತನೆ ಮಾತ್ರ. 'ಧೀರಃ' (ಸ್ಥಿರ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನವನು) ಎಂಬ ಪದವು ಈ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯು ದುಃಖವಲ್ಲ, ಶಾಂತಿಯನ್ನು ತರುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
Krishna uses a simple analogy everyone can understand: you've already "died" many times — the child you were is gone, the teenager is gone. Each stage felt like you, yet the body changed completely. Death is just one more such transition. The word "dhīraḥ" (the steady-minded) suggests this understanding brings calm, not grief.
