श्रीभगवानुवाच | अशोच्यानन्वशोचस्त्वं प्रज्ञावादांश्च भाषसे | गतासूनगतासूंश्च नानुशोचन्ति पण्डिताः ||११||
śhrī bhagavān uvācha aśhochyān anvaśhochas tvaṁ prajñā-vādānśh cha bhāṣhase gatāsūn agatāsūnśh cha nānuśhochanti paṇḍitāḥ
ಶ್ರೀ ಭಗವಾನ್ ಉವಾಚ | ನೀನು ಜ್ಞಾನದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಆಡುತ್ತಾ, ಶೋಕಿಸಲು ಯೋಗ್ಯವಲ್ಲದವರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಶೋಕಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀಯೆ. ಪಂಡಿತರು (ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು) ಬದುಕಿರುವವರಿಗಾಗಲಿ, ಸತ್ತವರಿಗಾಗಲಿ ಶೋಕಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
The Supreme Lord said: While speaking learned words, you are mourning for what is not worthy of grief. Those who are wise lament neither for the living nor for the dead.
ಇದು ಕೃಷ್ಣನ ಮೊದಲ ಬೋಧನಾ ಶ್ಲೋಕ. ಅವನು ತಕ್ಷಣ ಅರ್ಜುನನಿಗೆ ಸವಾಲು ಹಾಕುತ್ತಾನೆ: ನೀನು ತತ್ವಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಂತೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತೀಯೆ ಆದರೆ ಅಜ್ಞಾನಿಯಂತೆ ದುಃಖಿಸುತ್ತೀಯೆ. 'ಪಂಡಿತಾಃ' (ನಿಜವಾದ ಜ್ಞಾನಿಗಳು) ಎಂಬ ಪದವು ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ - ನಿಜವಾದ ಜ್ಞಾನವು ಬೌದ್ಧಿಕ ಜ್ಞಾನವಲ್ಲ, ಆದರೆ ಆತ್ಮವು ಶಾಶ್ವತ ಎಂಬ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆ.
This is Krishna's first teaching verse. He immediately challenges Arjuna: you speak like a philosopher but grieve like the ignorant. The word "paṇḍitāḥ" (the truly wise) is key — real wisdom is not intellectual knowledge but the understanding that the soul is eternal.
