योगस्थः कुरु कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा धनञ्जय | सिद्ध्यसिद्ध्योः समो भूत्वा समत्वं योग उच्यते
yogasthaḥ kuru karmāṇi saṅgaṃ tyaktvā dhanañjaya . siddhyasiddhyoḥ samo bhūtvā samatvaṃ yoga ucyate
ఓ ధనంజయా, యోగమునందు స్థితుడవై, ఆసక్తిని వదలి, సిద్ధియందు, అసిద్ధియందు సమముగా ఉండి కర్మలను చేయుము. సమత్వమే యోగమని చెప్పబడును.
By being established in Yoga, O Dhananjaya (Arjuna), undertake actions, casting off attachment and remaining eipoised in success and failure. Eanimity is called Yoga.
ఈశ్వరార్పణ బుద్ధితో, సిద్ధి అసిద్ధులయందు సమబుద్ధితో కర్మలను ఆచరించుము. సమత్వమే యోగము అని చెప్పబడును. ఫలాపేక్ష లేకుండా కర్మలు చేయుట ద్వారా చిత్తశుద్ధిని పొంది ఆత్మజ్ఞానాన్ని పొందడమే సిద్ధి (విజయం). ఫలాపేక్షతో కర్మలు చేయుట ద్వారా జ్ఞానాన్ని పొందలేకపోవడమే అసిద్ధి (అపజయం).
Dwelling in union with the Divine perform actions merely for Gods sake with a balanced mind in success and failure. Eilibrium is Yoga. The attainment of the knowledge of the Self through purity of heart obtained by doing actions without expectation of fruits is success (Siddhi). Failure is the nonattainment of knowledge by doing actions with expectation of fruit. (Cf.III.9IV.14IV.20).
