मात्रास्पर्शास्तु कौन्तेय शीतोष्णसुखदुःखदाः | आगमापायिनोऽनित्यास्तांस्तितिक्षस्व भारत ||१४||
mātrā-sparśhās tu kaunteya śhītoṣhṇa-sukha-duḥkha-dāḥ āgamāpāyino 'nityās tāns titikṣhasva bhārata
ఓ కౌంతేయా! ఇంద్రియ స్పర్శల వలన చలి, వేడి, సుఖము, దుఃఖము కలుగును. అవి వచ్చునవి, పోవునవి, అనిత్యములు. ఓ భారతా! వాటిని ధైర్యముగా సహించుము.
The contact of the senses with their objects gives rise to cold and heat, pleasure and pain. They come and go, they are temporary — endure them bravely, O Arjuna.
శ్రీకృష్ణుడు ఇక్కడ ఒక ప్రాథమిక సూత్రాన్ని పరిచయం చేస్తున్నాడు: అన్ని ఇంద్రియ అనుభవాలు తాత్కాలికమైనవి. Krishna introduces a foundational concept: all sensory experiences are temporary. The key insight is "āgamāpāyinaḥ" (they come and go) and "anityāḥ" (not permanent). This is not suppression — it's understanding that no emotional state lasts forever. The instruction "titikṣhasva" means to develop equanimity.
