यातयामं गतरसं पूति पर्युषितं च यत् | उच्छिष्टमपि चामेध्यं भोजनं तामसप्रियम्

Пища несвежая, безвкусная, гнилая и залежавшаяся, а также остатки и нечистая, непригодная для жертвоприношения, дорога тому, кто обладает тамасом.
Food which is not properly cooked, lacking in essence, putrid and stale, and even ort and that which is unfit for sacrifice, is dear to one possessed of tamas.
Ятаямам (yātayāmam) означает несвежая, буквально приготовленная более трёх часов назад. Гатарасам (gatarasam) – безвкусная. Пути (pūti) – гнилая. Парьюшитам (paryuṣitam) – залежавшаяся, то есть приготовленная накануне и оставленная на ночь. Уччхиштам (ucchiṣṭam) – это остатки пищи на тарелке после еды. Амедхьям (amedhyam) – нечистая, непригодная для жертвоприношения.
