अहं क्रतुरहं यज्ञः स्वधाहमहमौषधम् | मन्त्रोऽहमहमेवाज्यमहमग्निरहं हुतम्
ahaṃ kraturahaṃ yajñaḥ svadhāhamahamauṣadham . mantro.ahamahamevājyamahamagnirahaṃ hutam
Je suis le kratu, Je suis le yajña, Je suis la svadhā, Je suis l'auṣadham, Je suis le mantra, Je suis Moi-même l'ājyam, Je suis le feu, et Je suis l'acte d'offrande.
I am the kratu, I am the yajna, I am the svadha, I am the ausadha, I am the mantra, I Myself am the ajya, I am the fire, and I am the act of offering.
Le kratu est un type de sacrifice védique. Le yajña est l'adoration prescrite dans les Smṛti ou les livres sacrés énonçant la loi et le code de conduite. Je suis le mantra, le chant avec lequel l'oblation est offerte aux mânes ou ancêtres, et aux êtres lumineux (les Devatā ou dieux). « Hutam » signifie aussi l'acte d'offrande. « Auṣadham » désigne toutes les plantes, y compris le riz et l'orge, ou les médicaments qui peuvent guérir les maladies.
