The contact of the senses with their objects gives rise to cold and heat, pleasure and pain. They come and go, they are temporary — endure them bravely, O Arjuna.
Krishna introduces a foundational concept: all sensory experiences are temporary. The key insight is "āgamāpāyinaḥ" (they come and go) and "anityāḥ" (not permanent). This is not suppression — it's understanding that no emotional state lasts forever. The instruction "titikṣhasva" means to develop equanimity.
