देहिनोऽस्मिन्यथा देहे कौमारं यौवनं जरा | तथा देहान्तरप्राप्तिर्धीरस्तत्र न मुह्यति ||१३||
dehino 'smin yathā dehe kaumāraṁ yauvanaṁ jarā tathā dehāntara-prāptir dhīras tatra na muhyati
இந்த உடலில், தேகியானது (உடலை உடைய ஆத்மா) எவ்வாறு குழந்தைப்பருவம், இளமை, முதுமை ஆகிய நிலைகளைக் கடந்து செல்கிறதோ, அவ்வாறே மரணத்தின்போது வேறு ஒரு உடலை அடைகிறது. இதில் தீரர்கள் (ஞானிகள்) மயங்குவதில்லை.
Just as the embodied soul continuously passes from childhood to youth to old age, similarly at death the soul passes into another body. The wise are not deluded by this.
கிருஷ்ணர் ஆத்மாவின் அழியாத தன்மையை விளக்க ஒரு எளிய உதாரணத்தைப் பயன்படுத்துகிறார். ஒருவன் தனது வாழ்க்கையில் குழந்தை, இளைஞன், முதியவன் எனப் பல உடல் நிலைகளைக் கடந்து வருகிறான். ஒவ்வொரு நிலையிலும் உடல் மாறினாலும், ஆத்மா மாறாமல் நிலைத்திருக்கிறது. மரணம் என்பது உடலின் மற்றொரு மாற்றம் மட்டுமே; ஆத்மா வேறு ஒரு உடலை அடைகிறது. இந்த உண்மையை உணர்ந்த தீரர்கள் துயரப்படுவதில்லை.
Krishna uses a simple analogy everyone can understand: you've already "died" many times — the child you were is gone, the teenager is gone. Each stage felt like you, yet the body changed completely. Death is just one more such transition. The word "dhīraḥ" (the steady-minded) suggests this understanding brings calm, not grief.
