When a person dwells on sense objects, attachment to them arises. From attachment comes desire, and from unfulfilled desire comes anger.
Krishna maps the psychology of downfall as a chain reaction: contemplation → attachment → desire → anger. This is remarkably modern — cognitive behavioral therapy describes similar "thought chains." The chain continues in the next verse: anger → delusion → memory loss → loss of intelligence → destruction.
