अमी च त्वां धृतराष्ट्रस्य पुत्राः सर्वे सहैवावनिपालसङ्घैः | भीष्मो द्रोणः सूतपुत्रस्तथासौ सहास्मदीयैरपि योधमुख्यैः
amī ca tvāṃ dhṛtarāṣṭrasya putrāḥ sarve sahaivāvanipālasaṅghaiḥ . bhīṣmo droṇaḥ sūtaputrastathāsau sahāsmadīyairapi yodhamukhyaiḥ
ധൃതരാഷ്ട്രരുടെ പുത്രന്മാരെല്ലാം ഭൂമിപാലകന്മാരുടെ സമൂഹങ്ങളോടുകൂടി അങ്ങയിലേക്ക് പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നു; ഭീഷ്മരും ദ്രോണരും സൂതപുത്രനായ കർണ്ണനും ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രധാന യോദ്ധാക്കളോടുകൂടി അങ്ങയിലേക്ക് പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നു.
And into You (enter) all those sons of Dhrtarastra along with multitudes of the rulers of the earth; (also) Bhisma, Drona and that son of a Suta (Karna), together with even our prominent warriors.
കർണ്ണൻ പാണ്ഡവരുടെ മാതാവായ കുന്തിയുടെ പുത്രനായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും, ഒരു തേരാളിയാൽ വളർത്തപ്പെട്ടതുകൊണ്ട് സൂതപുത്രൻ എന്ന് അറിയപ്പെട്ടു.
Karna? though he was the son of Kunti? the mother of the Pandavas? was brought up by a charioteer and hence came to be regarded as his son.
