न हि प्रपश्यामि ममापनुद्याद् यच्छोकमुच्छोषणमिन्द्रियाणाम् | अवाप्य भूमावसपत्नमृद्धं राज्यं सुराणामपि चाधिपत्यम्
na hi prapaśyāmi mamāpanudyād yacchokamucchoṣaṇamindriyāṇām . avāpya bhūmāvasapatnamṛddhaṃ rājyaṃ surāṇāmapi cādhipatyam
Car je ne vois pas ce qui pourrait, même après avoir acquis sur cette terre un royaume prospère et sans ennemis, et même la souveraineté sur les dieux, dissiper ma peine (shoka) qui dessèche mes sens.
Because, I do not see that which can, even after aciring on this earth a prosperous kingdom free from enemies and even sovereignty over the gods, remove my sorrow (which is) blasting the senses.
Arjuna exprime la profondeur de son désespoir. Il affirme qu'aucune acquisition matérielle, même la plus grande, ne pourrait soulager le chagrin intense qui consume ses sens, soulignant que son tourment est d'ordre spirituel et non matériel.
. I do not clearly see what would drive out my grief, the scorcher of my sense-organs, even after achieving, a prosperous and unrivalled kingship in this earth and also the overlordship of the gods [in the heaven].
