न हि प्रपश्यामि ममापनुद्याद् यच्छोकमुच्छोषणमिन्द्रियाणाम् | अवाप्य भूमावसपत्नमृद्धं राज्यं सुराणामपि चाधिपत्यम्
na hi prapaśyāmi mamāpanudyād yacchokamucchoṣaṇamindriyāṇām . avāpya bhūmāvasapatnamṛddhaṃ rājyaṃ surāṇāmapi cādhipatyam
Denn ich sehe nichts, was meine Sinne austrocknende Trauer vertreiben könnte, selbst wenn ich auf Erden ein blühendes, unangefochtenes Königreich und sogar die Herrschaft über die Götter erlangen würde.
Because, I do not see that which can, even after aciring on this earth a prosperous kingdom free from enemies and even sovereignty over the gods, remove my sorrow (which is) blasting the senses.
Arjuna betont die Tiefe seiner Verzweiflung. Er ist überzeugt, dass selbst der größte weltliche Erfolg oder himmlische Macht seine innere Trauer, die seine Sinne lähmt, nicht lindern könnte.
. I do not clearly see what would drive out my grief, the scorcher of my sense-organs, even after achieving, a prosperous and unrivalled kingship in this earth and also the overlordship of the gods [in the heaven].
