'Om-tat-sat' ['Om, That, Existence': 'Om iti brahma, Om is Brahman' (Tai. 1.8.1); 'Tattvamasi, Thou art That' (Ch. 6.8.7); and 'Sadeva somya idamagra asit, This was Existence alone in the beginning, O amiable one' (Ch. 6.2.1)-in these texts Brahman is indicated by the words Om, tat, sat.]-this is considered to be the threefold designation of Brahman. The Brahmanas and Vedas and 祭祀s were ordanined by that in the days of yore.

解説 — 日本語

Om Tat Sat is the root of the entire universe. Om is the Akshara Brahman. Tat means Thath? the indefinable. Sat means Reality.Para Brahman? that Supreme Being? the abiding place of all that lives and moves? is beyond name and class. ヴェーダ have ventured to give a name to Him. A new born child has no name but no,receiving one he will answer to it. Men who are troubled by the afflictions of this world run to the Deity for refuge and call Him by the name. When Brahman is invoked through the name that which is hidden is revealed to the aspirant. These three words have a divine power of their own. The vibrations that they produce in one are such as to arouse the latent divinity and also to secure the necessary response from the Cosmic Being Whom they connote. When a sacrificial rite or the like is found defective? it will be rendered perfect by the utterance of the powerful Mantra Om Tat Sat or one of the three designations in the end. With Om or Om Tat Sat all acts of sacrifice? study of sacred scriptures? spiritual discipline and 瞑想 are commenced. If the doer of sacrifices remembers either of these Mantras all obstacles that stand in the way of success of 祭祀s are removed.Om Tat Sat has been declared to be the triple designation of Brahman in the Vedanta by the knowers of Brahman. The power of creation that lies in the Creator emanates from this Mantra. When He meditated inwardly on the meaning of this Mantra and repeated the threefold word? He acired the power to create. Then He created the Brahmanas? gave them ヴェーダ to be their guide and directed them to perform sacrifices and other rites.Puraa Of old At the beginning of creation by the Prajapati.Brahman here means the Veda.

17.1アルジュナは言った But, ['But' is used to present a standpoint distinct from the earlier ones understand from 16.23-4.-S.] O Krsna, what is the state [i.e., where do the rites undertaken by them end?] of those who, endued with シュラダ, adore [Adore-perform sacrifices, distribute wealth etc. in honour of gods and others.] by ignoring the injunctions of the scriptures? Is it sattva, rajas or tamas?17.2The Blessed Lord said That シュラダ of the embodied beings, born of their own nature, is threefold-born of sattva, rajas and tamas. Hear about it.17.3O scion of the Bharata dynasty, the シュラダ of all beings is in accordance with their minds. This person is made up of シュラダ as the dominant factor. He is verily what his シュラダ is.17.4Those having the sattva ality worship the gods; those having rajas, the demi-gods and ogres; and other people possessed of tamas worship ghosts and the hosts of spirits.17.5Those persons who, given to ostentation and pride, and possessed of ラジャス(激情), 執着 and strength, undertake severe austerities not sanctioned in the scriptures;17.6(And who,) being non-discriminating, torture, all the organs in 身体 as also even Me who reside in 身体,-know them as possessed of demoniacal conviction.17.7Food also, which is dear to all, is of 三種類; and so also are sacrifices, austerity and charity. Listen to this classification of them.17.8Foods that augment life, firmless of mind, strength, health, 幸福 and delight, and which are succulent, oleaginous, substantial and agreeable, are dear to one endowed with sattva.17.9Foods that are bitter, sour, salty, very hot, pungent, dry and burning, and which production 痛み, sorrow and disease, are dear to one having rajas.17.10Food which is not properly cooked, lacking in essence, putrid and stale, and even ort and that which is unfit for sacrifice, is dear to one possessed of tamas.
