इन्द्रियार्थेषु वैराग्यमनहंकार एव च | जन्ममृत्युजराव्याधिदुःखदोषानुदर्शनम्

音写

indriyārtheṣu vairāgyamanahaṃkāra eva ca . janmamṛtyujarāvyādhiduḥkhadoṣānudarśanam

日本語

Non-執着 with regard to objects of 感覚, and also absence of egotism; seeing the evil in 生, 死, old age, diseases and miseries;

English

Non-attachment with regard to objects of the senses, and also absence of egotism; seeing the evil in birth, death, old age, diseases and miseries;

解説 — 日本語

The feeling of 放棄 towards the objects of 感覚 is constant in the man of wisdom. He does not even like to talk about them. His senses do not run towards them.Vairagyam Indifference to the senseobjects such as sound? touch? etc.? for 喜び seen or unseen? heard or unheard (for 喜び in heaven? too).Anahankara The idea that arises in 心 I am superior to all? is egoism. Absence of this idea is Anahankara or absence of egoism.Reflection on the evils and miseries of 生? 死? old age and sickness One has to dwell in the womb for nine months and to undergo the pangs of 生. These are the evils of 生. The man of wisdom never forgets the troubles of 生? 死? old age? etc. He wants to avoid being born. In old age the intellect becomes dull and the memory is lost and 感覚 become cold and weak. There is decay of power and strength. The old man is treated with contempt by his relatives. These are the evils of old age. A sick man who suffers from piles? suffers from weakness and anaemia through loss of blood. A man 苦しみ from malaria gets an enlarged spleen. These are the evils caused by sickness.痛み The three types of 痛み or afflictions are referred to in the Introduction.痛み itself is evil. 生 is 痛みful. 生 is misery. 死 is misery. Old age is misery. Sickness is misery. 生? 死? etc.? are all miseries? because they produce misery or 痛み.By such reflection and perception of the evil in these arises indifference to the 喜びs of 身体 and the sensual 喜びs. Then 心 turns within towards the innermost Self to attain 知識 of 自己. As the perception of the evil of 痛み in 生 helps to obtain 知識 of 自己? it is spoken of as 知識.

Then the mind turns within towards the innermost Self to attain knowledge of the Self. As the perception of the evil of pain in birth helps to obtain knowledge of the Self? it is spoken of as knowledge.

13.1Swami Gambhirananda has not translated this sloka. Many editions of the Bhagavadgita do not contain this sloka, including the commentary by Sankaracharya. If this sloka is included, the total number of slokas in the Bhagavadgita is 701.13.2The Blessed Lord said O son of Kunti, this body is referred to as the 'クシェトラ'. Those who are versed in this call him who is conscious of it as the 'クシェトラジナ of the クシェトラ'.13.3And, O scion of the Bharata dynasty, under-stand Me to be the 'クシェトラジナ of the クシェトラ' in all the クシェトラs. In My opinion, that is 知識 which is the knowlege of th クシェトラ and the クシェトラジナ of the クシェトラ.13.4Hear from Me in brief about (all) that as to what that クシェトラ is and how it is; what its changes are, and from what cause arises what effect; and who He is, and what His powers are.13.5It has been sung of in various ways by the Rsis, separately by the different kinds [The different branches of Vedic texts.] of Vedic texts, and also by the rational and convicing sentences themselves which are indicatvie of and lead of Brahman.13.6The great elements, egoism, intellect and the Unmanifest itself; the ten organs and the one, and the five objects of 感覚;13.7Desire, repulsion, 幸福, sorrow, the aggregate (of body and organs), sentience, fortitude- this クシェトラ, together with its modifications, has been spoken of briefly.13.8Humility, unpretentiousness, non-injury, for-bearance, sincerity, service of the teacher, cleanliness, steadiness, control of body and organs;13.10Non-執着 and absence of fondness with regard to sons, wives, homes, etc., and constant eanimity of 心 with regard to the attainment of the desirable and the undesirable;13.11And unwavering devotion to Me with single-minded concentration; inclination to repair into a clean place; lack of delight in a crowd of people;
