English

Fire, light, daytime, the birght forrnight, the six months of the Northern solstice-by following this Path, persons who are knowers of Brahman attain Brahman when they die.

解説 — 日本語

This is the UttaraMarga or Devayana? the northern path or the path of light? by which the Yogis go to ブラフマン. This path leads to salvation. It takes the devotee to Brahmaloka. The six months of the northern solstice is from the middle of January to the middle of July. It is regarded as the better period for 死. There is a vivid description in the Chhandogya Upanishad? the Kaushitaki Upanishad and the Brahma Sutras? chapter IV.3 and 4? ii. 18 and 21.On the road beginning with light (the departed soul proceeds)? on account of that being widely known.Having reached the path of the gods he comes to the world of Agni (fire)? to the world of Vayu (air)? to the world of Varuna (rain)? to the world of Indra (king of the gods)? to the world of Prajapati (the Creator)? to the world of ブラフマン.They go to the light? from the light to day? from day to the waxing half of the moon? from the waxing half of the moon to the six months when the sun goes to the north? from those months to the year? from the year to the sun. When the person goes away from this world he comes to Vayu (air). Then Vayu room for him like the hole of a wheel and through it he mounts higher. He comes to the sun. From the moon to the lightning there a person that is not human leads him to ブラフマン.Time is here used in the sense of the path or the stage on the path. Fire and light are the deities who preside over time. Daytime is the deity who presides over the day. The bright fortnight is the deity presiding over it. The six months of the northern solstice are the deity who presides over the northern path. This is the path of illumination that leads to 解脱.The lifreaths of the liberated sages who have attained 知識 of 自己 do not depart. They are absorbed in ブラフマン. The Jivanmuktas who attain KaivalyaMoksha or immediate, salvation or 解脱 have no place to go to or return from. They become one with the allpervading ブラフマン.Each step may mean a plane or a state of consciousness or the degree of purity or illumination. The more the purity the more the divine light. There are bright objects throughout the course of the path. There is illumination or 知識 when one passes along this path. Hence it is called the path of light. After Bhishma was mortally wounded? he lay on the bed of arrows till the onset of the northern solstice and then departed from here to the Abode of the Lord.

8.1Swami Gambirananda did not comment on this sloka8.2O Madhusudana, how, and who, is the entity existing in 祭祀 here in this body? And at the time of 死, how are You to be known by people of concentrated minds?8.3The Blessed Lord said The Immutable is 至高のブラフマン; self-hood is said to the entity present in the individual plane. By 行動 is meant the offerings which bring about the origin of the existence of things.8.4The which exists in the physical plane is the mutable entity, and what exists in the divine plane is the Person. O best among the embodied beings, I Myself am the entity that exists in 祭祀 in this body.8.5And at the time of 死, anyone who departs by giving up 身体 while thinking of Me alone, he attains My state. There is no doubt about this.8.6O son of Kunti, thinking of any entity whichever it may be one gives up 身体 at the end, he attains that very one, having been always engrossed in its thought.8.7Therefore, think of Me at all times and fight. There is no doubt that by dedicating your mind and intellect to Me, you will attain Me alone.8.8O son of Prtha, by meditating with a mind which is engaged in ヨーガ of practice and which does not stray away to anything else, one reaches the supreme Person existing in the effulgent region.8.9He who meditates on the Omniscient, the Anceint, the Ruler, subtler than the subtle, the Ordainer of everything, of inconceivable form, effulgent like the sun, and beyond darkness-(he attains the supreme Person).8.10At the time of 死, having fully fixed the Prana (vita force) between the enrows with an unswering mind, and being imbued with devotion as also the strength of concentration, he reaches that resplendent supreme person.
